Alejandro Fallabrino

Country: Uruguay

Occupation and employer: Sea turtle research and conservation, Karumbé

Geographic area of expertise: Southwest Atlantic and West Africa

Specialty: Real conservation

Best part about my job: Being able to enjoy watching free-living sea turtles and see to their welfare.

The most unusual or exciting thing that’s happened to me while working in the field: Apparition of the Virgin Iemanja (sea goddess) as a leatherback.

Turtle researcher / conservationist I most admire: All of the human beings that have saved a single sea turtle.

When I’m not working on turtles, I like to: Spend time with my family, surf, listen to music, drink a good bottle of Viñedo de los Vientos wine, eat a ñoquis (Italian / Uruguayan pasta)…
